Introduction

The Mission Room PowerPoint plugin integrates Microsoft PowerPoint with your Mission Room to allow you to create and view immersive presentations.

This guide gives an overview of the controls provided by the plugin and tasks involved in creating an immersive presentation.

Controls Overview

The functionality of the Mission Room PowerPoint plugin is accessed through the Mission Room Tab shown at the top of the PowerPoint interface as shown below.

Slide Details Button

This button toggles the display of the Panoramic Slide Details Content Pane. This content pane allows the user to view and modify properties of Panoramic Video or Panoramic Image slides.

Insert Image Button

This button displays a dialog box to allow the user to browse and select a panoramic image or images to be inserted as slides into the presentation.

Insert Video Button

This button displays a dialog box to allow the user to browse and select a panoramic video to be inserted as a slide into the presentation.

Screen Guides Button

This button toggles the display of guides that show the extents of the Mission Room Display System screens in relation to the presentation. They are used to help in arranging the layout of content i.e. what will appear on which screen.

Set Colour Button

This button displays a dialog box to allow the user to change the colour of the Screen Guides if they are not visible against the slide background.

To create a new presentation

If PowerPoint is not already running:

  1. Start PowerPoint
  2. Select "Default Theme" or "MissionRoom 4 Screen Layout" from the Template Selection Screen.

If PowerPoint is already running:

  1. Select File and then New from the menu.
  2. Select "Default Theme" or "MissionRoom 4 Screen Layout" from the Template Selection Screen.

Saving your presentation

If you presentation contains panoramic video slides it is vital that you save the presentation on to the same media drive that contains these video files - the videos are NOT embedded into the presentation. 

To add a panoramic image slide

  1. Select the Insert Image button found in the Mission Room tab, the image selection dialog will be shown as below
  2. Browse to and select the image or images that you wish to insert and click ok - multiple images can be selected by pressing Shift or Ctrl.
  3. New slides will be added for each of the images that were selected.
  4. You can then if you wish add annotations / images on top of the panoramic image using the normal PowerPoint content tools.

To add a panoramic video slide

  1. Select the Insert Video button found in the Mission Room tab, the video selection dialog will be shown as below
  2. Browse to and select the video that you wish to insert.
  3. The video controls allow the video to be previewed.
  4. Once happy with the choice, click ok and a new slide will be added for the video.
  5. Note: you cannot add any other content or annotations to be displayed on top of the videos. Anything else that you add to the slide will be obscured by the panoramic video once playback starts.

To add a normal (non-panoramic video or image) slide

  1. Select the Home tab and press the drop-down from the New Slide button.
  2. Select the desired layout from the Office Theme section. Do not choose one of the other layouts with names such as a52e47e8-5a47-4813-afda-7f6766a55eed, these have been dynamically created for the panoramic video and image slides in the presentation.

 

To modify a panoramic image slide

  1. If the Slide Details Content Pane is not visible, press the Slide Details button on the Mission Room tab to display it.
  2. Select the slide you wish to modify and the Slide Details content pane will be show the current panoramic image details.
  3. Press the Choose Image button to display the image selection dialog if you wish to change the image that is displayed on the slide.
  4. Press Shift Left or ShIft Right buttons to change where the panoramic image is displayed.

To modify a panoramic video slide

  1. If the Slide Details Content Pane is not visible, press the Slide Details button on the Mission Room tab to display it.
  2. Select the slide you wish to modify and the Slide Details content pane will be show the current panoramic video details.
  3. Press the Choose Video button to display the video selection dialog if you wish to preview the video that is currently handled by the slide or would like to choose a different one.
  4. Toggle the Loop Video checkbox to change the looping behaviour of the video. If checked, when the presentation is played back on the Mission Room display system, the video will loop continuously until a new slide is selected via the handset. If unchecked, when the video has finished the presentation will automatically advance to the next slide.

To change the title that is displayed on the handset for a slide

  1. Select the Outline View by selecting the View Tab and then select the Outline View button.
  2. Select the slide you wish to change from the list on the left and type a new title.
